Biographical and Professional InformationDr. Williams is Emeritus Professor of Music and Arts Technology at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. His career has also included teaching and administrative appointments SWRL Educational Research Laboratory, the University of Washington, and the University of Guam. Williams holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music Theory degree from Northwestern Louisiana State University and a PhD in Systematic Musicology from the University of Washington. His technology work covers multimedia and Internet applications, music and arts technology education, the development of software applications for music education, and the management of information and instructional technology resources. He currently maintains an active consulting practice in educational and music technology.Dr. Williams has written extensively in the areas of music education, music psychology, music and arts technology, and instructional development. In 2001, he received the Illinois Music Educators Association Distinguished Service Award for his work in music technology.In 2001, he received the Illinois Music Educators Association Distinguished Service Award for his work in music technology and served as president of The College Music Society, 2010-2012. Williams was the founding editor of the journal, Psychomusicology: Music, Mind, and Brain, and served as editor from 1981 to 1993.
