Biographical and Professional Information
Kathy Stevenson was a newspaper columnist in southern California for five years before moving to the Chicago area in 1993. In 1991 she published Second Thoughts, a collection of fifty of her columns. Since moving to Chicago Ms. Stevenson has freelanced for the Chicago Tribune, writing essays and feature articles. Her work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Redbook, and many other publications.

The letters are written by Lake Forest author Catherine Caldwell, and are discovered upon her death by her granddaughter. "The Lake Poet" presents one woman's interior life played out against a backdrop of Lake Forest history, and set in the context of world events.
