Bjorling was born in Galesburg and lived most of his life in the Knoxville-Gilson area. His Illinois writings have featured the former Universalist Church in Galesburg as well as Swedish cultural events in Bishop Hill. He wrote a Spirituality column for the former "Knoxville Journal," and was a columnist for the Galesburg independent publications "The Zephyr," "Galesburg Planet," and currently "The New Zephyr. " He graduated from Robert Morris College in Carthage in 1972.
