About Autism Works in Libraries
English (USA)

Autism Works in Libraries gives subscribers an online platform to draw upon the collective knowledge, experience and expertise of other librarians, self-advocates, service providers, educators and clinicians. The purpose of this list is to assist librarians in providing excellent library service to their autistic patrons. The list invites questions on topics ranging from (1) how to respond to patron meltdowns; (2) selecting resources for siblings of an autistic family member; (3) how to provide support for autistic patrons looking for employment; (4) how to make your library more autism-friendly without spending a lot of money; (5) how to develop inclusive library programs; (6) what assistive technologies are most useful in a library; and many more topics aimed at strengthening the role of libraries as community anchors for serving our neurodiverse communities.
