[Isl-askaway] "Crisis" chats

Julie Strange of Maryland's AskUsNow service has put together an interesting guidelines page for "crisis" chats (patrons who threaten suicide, bring up abuse issues, etc.): http://askusnow.info/staff/crisis_guidelines

The page is a tailored to Maryland's specific needs (like the suggestion to email her), but it seems to be a good overview. What I found most interesting is the link to https://www.imalive.org in the "Hotlines" section. They are about to launch the first 24x7 chat-based crisis intervention site that I'm aware of. They're not live yet, but they do link to this page of resources, which includes some non-24/7 chat services: http://hopeline.com/gethelpnow.html

If you think the situation warrants it, feel free to refer in-crisis chat patrons those sites.
