Good morning Christopher and all.
In the mid-2000s we had our existing 2 such Infonics reel to reel units (previously used for dumping 4 tracks from two 2-track reel masters simultaneously to 4-track cassette submaster) converted for use in digitization. We also purchased a single unit designed to work with 4-track reel masters as our decades old reel master collection had a mix of both 2-track and 4-track reel masters.
Several years ago we lost touch with Dave at Infonics and were unable to locate him for needed maintenance of these machines.
So we began refurbishing the couple of remaining old Otari reel-to-reel units I had kept from back when we were recording and reviewing analog. We had surplused most of our then 6 Otari reel units as we shifted to recording digitally. So we had the 2 or so remaining Otaris maintenance and also purchased 1 “new” and 1 refurbished Otari.
It is these 4 Otari units that we now use for the bulk of our analog to digital conversions / digitizations.
The Infonics units worked well for us for a very long time but when we finally realized we wouldn’t be able to have their creator, Dave, work on them, we decided to surplus them and rely upon the Otaris.

Subject: Re: [Studiotalk] Zing
So is everyone using these infonics machines to do A-D transfers?
I cannot find a manual here in the studio and this machine is a bit confusing.
Thanks all!
