[Studiotalk] Obtaining existing commercial audio from smaller/independent publishers?

Great question David.
I would like to know how we as network libraries could reach out to already produced commercial audio publishers and what agreement forms we could use with them.
Has anyone done this?

Hello!

I hope you are all doing great!

Question

  *   I was wondering whether anyone has experience contacting smaller publishers/authors of self-published audio books to obtain permission to use existing commercial audio?

Background

  *   We have been participating in the NLS commercial program (it is really fantastic!)



  *   There have been some cases where the audio books we wanted (by local authors/publishers) were not available to NLS, and we are looking for alternate ways to obtain them, and, more importantly, get permission to convert them for distribution through BARD.

(It seems Chaffee does not/may not cover audio.)
