Hello! I wanted to share with you Missouri’s reopen plans and schedules. Wolfner Recording Studio has been open with volunteers since July 7 on a limited schedule we are calling Phase I. Attached I have our Phase I and II Reopen Plans and
Schedules for you to look at and see how we were approved to reopen and start recording. We are under the Secretary of State’s Office and had to get our approval by them. Like many studios, our volunteers are young at heart but maybe not so much in years.
I had my apprehension about how many would actually want to come back and feel like they were safe. To my surprise, they were very excited to come back and get in the booth to record or get back reviewing. They have all been very positive on their approval
on how we have taken everything so seriously in regards to their health and safety and our procedures of cleaning. We only had two volunteers not come back due them wanting to wait longer for the virus to pass and two volunteers who wanted to wait until Phase
II came out so they could get their preferred time slot. We have provided our Phase II plans to leadership; however, at this time there is no word about getting to move forward.

Prior to reopening, I had sent an email out to our volunteers with similar information from the reopen plan letting them know what our procedures would be to try to keep their health and safety our top priority and sent them the blank Phase
I schedule. I also called each volunteer welcoming them back and letting them know the deadline I needed for their top selections of time/day preferences. The email shared, that because there were limited time slots, some teams might have to be on an every
other week rotation and some partnerships might need to be altered due to who might or might not be coming back. I won’t lie, the scheduling was a bit of a nightmare. I lost several reviewers who decided to just keep being a narrator or monitor because scheduling
was tight. This led to more a difficult scheduling nightmare of who could review what books because you had to think of the 72-hour hold after the narrator used the book, but also the 72-hour hold after the reviewer reviewed the book. And Wednesday’s narrators
have to have a Week 1 book and a Week 2 book because no matter how you look at it, there isn’t 72 hours one way or the other in a week before or after Wednesday for someone to review the book.

Cleaning supplies are a struggle. We use Lysol spray and paper towels for the reviewing cubes because they are in an open air area instead of using the Chlorox wipes. For the recording booth, we use the Chlorox wipes due to it being closed
off. We try to do a mass cleaning of spaces if time allows (Clean both review cubes and the recording booth). This cuts back on the pairs of disposable gloves we use.

We have accepted we are going to complete a lot less books this year because some teams are only coming twice a month for two hours each time. We are just thankful for being open and are going to enjoy it while we can; and if and when we
have to close again, we will, but we know we can reopen because we have done it successfully before.

I am happy to answer any questions you might have. I don’t know everything and we are definitely still learning as information comes out.
