Hi all,

Does anyone happen to have a small audio recording (WAV, MP3 or 3GP file) of the noise you're capturing in HABC? I don't know if the listserv can handle small, attached audio files to postings, but still thought I'd ask. I'm just curious to hear what you're inadvertently capturing.

(Such audio snippets might be a nice thing to upload to the LBPH Wiki as well...if it can handle audio.)

Just curious. Please don't add to your workload to satisfy my curiosity. :)
Thanks,
-Dan in Minnesota

Our volunteers read on ipads, so we have to make sure they are in airplane mode before they go into the booths, otherwise, when they ping the cell tower, it can cause static in the microphone cables which is captured as static in the recording. If a volunteer has to take a phone into the booth, we ask them to put it on airplane mode as well.

Hi Linden,

We have occasional problems with digital interference in our studio. It is usually caused by an incoming phone call or text. We had a team who used to record at noon, and the staff break room on the other side of the wall contains a microwave oven that, when being used, caused digital interference in our studio. The team would have to stop and wait or rerecord the bits that sounded "scratchy." It took us a while to figure this out.

I hope this helps.

Erin

Hello,

I have had a problem develop with my Hindenburg recording software lately. I have had a scratchy sound develop while recording which has meant that I have had to rerecord some sessions. I have been able to fix it on occasion by shutting down the software and rebooting it, but often when recording you cannot tell it is scratchy until you stop to go back to correct an error. Has anyone else run into this issue?
