[Studiotalk] Opening for In Person Recording

Hi, Nancy,

We currently have our schedule pretty spaced out, with no one using the same booth on the same day. The layout of the studio allows us to use up to 2 booths at once (we have 3 total) while still maintaining a good distance between monitor stations. Doors are left open when booths are not in use and we added an air purifier to the room as well. Our teams typically split the session as you describe, though under the current circumstances they are alternating sessions rather than switching midway. And we’ve asked that people mask unless they’re in the booth.

Hope this helps!

Tyler

Thanks, Ann! I had similar thoughts about allowing a good chunk of time between recording sessions. For us maybe a morning slot and an afternoon slot. I may check with my director to see if air purifiers could be installed in the recording area. Hadn't thought much about that!

Hi, Nancy,
The Litchfield unit's plan for your concern is that one team record per day, in the morning and will leave the space no later than 12-1:00. Booth door will be left open overnight, as well as doors to the hallway to air things out.
We won't be reopening just yet in that our host library is in the process of installing an air ventilation system in the "historic house" of our library & the timing of all of that is uncertain.
We may also need 2 air purifiers (2 rooms), but will wait until the construction is complete to determine that.
Hope this helps & you may want to also contact our other 4 units in CT to get their ideas. Each unit is a bit different!

Let me know if you need their emails...

Hi All,

We will finally be opening again for in person recording beginning in November. I was curious to know what precautions related to COVID other studios have taken when re-opening. Our narrators work in teams with one recording while the other monitors, then they switch. The biggest concern some of them have is going into record immediately after someone else has been recording in the same booth. Do any of you have a set amount of time you let a booth "air out" between people using it?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this!
Nancy
