[Studiotalk] Archiving In-house Masters?

Here at the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library we like a bit of redundancy so we keep:

1. All original recording

2. All corrected and unprocessed corrected recording

3. All corrected, processed and hard limited files.

4. Final masters
These are all original wave files and are archived as book matter. Our hard drives are routinely back upped in house.

Subject: [Studiotalk] Archiving In-house Masters?

Hi all,

We are looking at our archival strategies for our in-house masters, I thought I'd reach out and how others are handling this.

We are specifically looking at the following questions:

* What files are you backing up?

o Which file formats are you keeping?

* How long are you maintaining your archival copy?

* How are you backing them up?

o If you are using an off-site back-up, what pros/cons have you found?

I'd be happy to compile all the responses and share with the list if others are interested.

Thanks so much for your help and time,
Etta
